Analysis of the metal properties of cemented carbide and tungsten steel materials
Cemented carbide grade:
As the core material in the field of Carbide manufacturing, Tungsten Carbide/Wolfram Carbide occupies an important position in modern industry with its unique combination of properties. Because of the complex composition of cemented carbide products, today, we analyze the metal properties of cemented carbide grades and tungsten steel materials.
The origin of cemented carbide grades:
cemented carbide is mainly composed of tungsten carbide/wolfram carbide (WC) and bonded metals (such as cobalt, nickel), and may also add titanium carbide (TiC), tantalum carbide (TaC) and other components.
The grade often reflects the composition and performance in the following ways: China Standard (GB) :
YG series (such as YG8) : "Y" represents tungsten carbide, "G" represents cobalt (pinyin "cobalt" first letter), the number indicates cobalt content (such as YG8 cobalt 8%, the rest is WC). The higher the cobalt content, the better the toughness, suitable for impact conditions.
YT series (e.g. YT15) : "T" stands for titanium carbide (TiC), and the number indicates TiC content (e.g. YT15 contains 15% TiC). TiC improves the red hardness, suitable for high-speed cutting steel parts.
YW series: Tantalum carbide (TaC) or niobium carbide (NbC) added, both wear resistance and toughness, suitable for multi-material processing.
